Dr. Lisa Compton was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. She is a graduate of Dreher High School in Columbia. She decided on her path of becoming a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in high school. Dr. Compton received her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from Five Branches University in San Jose, California. Dr. Compton has Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, CO and Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Carolina. She has also received training in Kunming, China at the Yunnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. In addition, Dr. Compton was a former clinical teaching faculty supervisor at Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Since 2002, Dr. Compton is board-certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture, Herbology and Oriental Medicine. Dr. Compton specializes in Metabolic Syndrome (diabetes, heart disease and obesity) and Internal Medicine and does not limit her practice to those areas of medicine. She holds licenses in Colorado and South Carolina.
She is a former member of Jack and Jill of America and is an enrolled member to the Eastern Cherokee, Southern Iroquois and United Tribes of South Carolina (ECSIUT). After a long absence from the South Carolina, Dr. Compton has returned and she looks forward to bringing her expertise to the community at large in Columbia and the surrounding areas. She is ready to help you on your road to achieving and maintaining health and wellness.
